What is wax therapy?

Wax therapy is the application of deep heat therapy after giving a wax bath to the affected part. The molten paraffin wax applied to the skin in the form of layers gets built up and gets hard upon coming in contact with air away from the wax bath. The wax is then peeled off without causing pain to the patient and the area is readied for other combined procedures like Swiss or gym ball routine, exercise, stretching and other therapeutic measures. Wax therapy is an ideal choice for relieving pain, assisting mobility, managing arthritic problems and treating stiff post-traumatic hands and limbs. The therapy helps relax the muscles, increase blood flow to the problem area and decrease joint stiffness. It also helps in reducing muscle spasms, inflammation and sprains. It is a known treatment for fibromyalgia, osteoarthritic complaints and rheumatoid arthritis.

Our therapy

Paraffin wax treatment involves submerging the affected body part, usually the hands, in a container containing warm wax for a few seconds. This creates a wax coating on the body part which later hardens as it is exposed to air. The process may be repeated 5-6 times and every time the wax hardens, the body part is again applied warm wax, this is done to build a layer of warm wax. The body part is then covered with a cellophane cover and towel wrapped. The wax remains for another 14-20 minutes until the heat subsides. Then the wax is taken off the hand or body part. The whole procedure is done by our experts and it helps soften the skin, improve circulation, reduce stiffness in the joints and reduce inflammation in the connective tissues.
